Jessica's speech

Hey! So here is my speech. Feel free to leave any comments and suggestions on what I can do to make it better! Hope you like it!

Dreams
Everyone knows that when you go to sleep you dream, but how well do you really know dreams? Dreams have been part of the human psych since before recorded time. They are images, thoughts, sounds, and voices that can include places you have been, people you know, people you have met or even just people you have seen before. It is believed that we all dream every night even though you may think you do not, but really you just do not remember your dream.

There are many theories to why people dream and it is said that dreaming is a way to establish rapport between our inner and outer self offering us access to the wisdom of our soul. One theory is that when you are at school, home, or anywhere else, you have so many thoughts going on that you can not think of it all so when you dream, you dream your last minute or forgotten thoughts. Some therapists and other specialists believe that dreams are a means for our subconscious mind to keep itself active, and that dreams can strengthen the connections between areas of the brain.

Dreams can provide huge roles in our lives. They can reflect all expects of life, and can have different purposes at different times. Some people have thought that dreams can predict the future. It is proven that it can help if you record your dreams when you wake in the morning. Recording your dreams helps because you can see what you dreamed in the past and then make connections with your present dreams.

Besides dreaming at night, people can also have nightmares. A nightmare is actually a dream that results in feelings of strong terror, fear, distress or extreme anxiety. Most nightmares may be a reaction to stress, however, frequent nightmares becomes a disorder when it impairs social, occupational and other important areas of function. You can stop nightmares by medication but almost everyone has nightmares from time to time.

So in conclusion, remember these facts the next time you dream and you might uncover something about yourself that you never knew existed.

  1. You have some great ideas in your speech and a great beginning to your speech but I think you could alaborate more on some of your ideas. I found your speech really interesting and found out a lot about dreams that I didn't know! Great job!

  2. Your speech was really interesting, but for the nightmares part are you implying that "nightmare issues" can only be solved through medicine?
Also try to explain in easier terms because some terms like psych and rapport, not everybody understands. Other than that you speech was very interesting and I would want to read more!

  3. I thought that your speech was very interesting and well researched, I learned some very interesting things about dreams that I never knew before, however the section of your speech devoted to nightmares seemed a bit small and out of place, I think that if you were to make that section a bit larger and go more in depth with that bit of the speech, it could really improve things. Overall I found that your speech was really good and you had some very good and strong points. Keep up the good work!

  4. Your speech was quite detailed and I learned a lot that I didn't know before! On the other hand I think you should use a little less technical terms to suit the audience. Other than that, your speech was quite interesting and you had a very strong introduction. Good job!
